
Sherrif Karamat - Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA)
Sherrif Karamat, BAS, MBA, is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA). Over the past four and a half years at PCMA, Sherrif has overseen and implemented PCMA’s strategic partnership program that has resulted in revenue growth of over 2,300 percent. This unprecedented growth occurred while he reduced the number of PCMA partners by more than 60% and simultaneously increased partner value and satisfaction. Sherrif also oversees PCMA’s print and digital media advertising and under his leadership revenues has increased by more than 50% over the past four years. In addition, Sherrif also oversees the membership department at PCMA, making him responsible for all of PCMA’s major revenue streams.
Prior to his appointment at PCMA, he was the Vice President of Business Sales for Toronto Convention and Visitors Association.
Sherrif wrote the chapter on Sponsorships and Strategic Partnerships: A New Approach in Professional Meeting Management – Fifth Edition, Comprehensive Strategies for Meetings, Conventions and Events. In addition to Sherrif’s many industry volunteer roles, he has served two years on Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Business Partner Advisory Council and was a featured speaker at IEG’s 2007 conference on sponsorships.
Sherrif holds a bachelor’s degree in business from York University and a masters of business administration (MBA) in marketing and international business from Schulich School of Business.
Fraser Mackay - Senior Director of the Internet Channel
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC)
Prior to immigrating to Canada, Fraser was an IT consultant in Britain’s financial services sector where he specialized in Internet Banking and CRM for clients such as HSBC, Barclays, AA and ABM Amro. In 2001 he moved to Canada to join Merrill Lynch to work on their Canadian online brokerage platform. After Merrill Lynch Canada was acquired by CIBC World Markets, Fraser worked in technology and business areas on brokerage and online applications.
Fraser also has experience in marketing, manufacturing and the waste industry, as well in-depth experience in project management, including setting up PMOs and methodologies.
In 2007 he joined the advisory board of Blueprint Software Systems. He is also an active leader in CIBC's United Way Campaign.
Fraser holds a bachelor’s degree with Honour’s in Mathematics and Computing from Bolton University and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
